Day 1

Locations: Varna –Veliko Tarnovo (225km, 2H30min)

On the way to Veliko Tarnovo, visit the UNESCO landmark Madara Rider. The Madara Archelogical Reserve displays several monuments from various periods, but among the towering cliffs is the most notable artifact- the stone carving relief known as the Madara Rider, a mythical horseman, with a sword in his hands and a lion at his feet.

After arrival at Veliko Tarnovo and check in, explore the city’s Samovodska trade street and the quaint Gurko Street, with traditional houses stacked next to each other, overlooking the Yantra River.
Overnight.

Day 2

Locations: Veliko Tarnovo Varna (225km, 2H30min)

Explore Tsarevets Royal Hill and the medieval fortress and later visit one of the most significant church from that time, “St. Forty Holy Martyrs, an emblematic testimony of the glorious Bulgarian Tzars. Continue to Preobrajenie Moanstety, once the biggest center of literacy and later restored by two of the biggest craftsmen of the Revival Movement- Zahary Zograf and Kolio Ficheto. Continue to Arbanassi museum village and finish by exploring the St Peter and Pavel Monastery near Liaskovets. After a relaxing stop with a sip of still and sparkling wines at the Lyaskovets winery, drive back to Varna.
