Sozopol
Any number of days | Beach & Sea 1 Comments | Write a commentLocated just 35km south of Burgas, Sozopol is one of the oldest coastal town on the Bulgarian Black Sea, with evidence of settlements dating back to some 7000 years. Inhabited by the Thracians, occupied by the Romans and later concurred by the Bulgars, still standing are fortified protection walls and century old churches. But as notable are the cobblestone streets are the traditional houses in the Old Town, adding plenty of romance and charm.
The area around Sozopol has grown in the past few years, and now the vicinities of the town provide for various types of lodging- private hoses, small family hotels and modern resorts.
The beaches around are plenty. From the several town beaches of Sozopol, to the nearby vast beaches just 5 minutes South or North out of town.

Locations: SozopolIf you feel like some history, visit the archeological museum. Or simply walk by many of the current excavation around town. Or take a boat ride to the nearby island of St Ivan, where researchers found holy relics of Saint John the Baptist. The relics can be seen re in St. Cyril and St. Methodius Church and attract pilgrims from all over the world.
Or take a boat ride on the Ropotamo River, part of Ropotamo Nature Reserve, just 10km south of Sozopol.
Day 6
Locations: SozopolVisit the near by vast beaches of Alepou or by the camp grounds of Gradina, Kavatsi, Smokinia.

Else:

Plovdiv-Sozopol is 298km, 3Hrs 30min
Varna-Sozopol is 150km, 2Hrs
